With the namesake of the level, the Chroma Dam is Chroma City's largest landmark, as well as the power source for Chroma's energy needs. After the invasion of the city, INKT converted the dam to pump their ink downstream to further pollute the water.
Description
The Chroma Dam is an arch dam that is supported by the steep walls of stable rock. It has two large outlets on either side, allowing ink to pour out into the waters below. There are two pairs of medium - sized pipes placed on either side of the outlets and one just above it.
The façade has a open - gridded circle in the middle, showing the internal gears of the dam. This circle is split into two, with a wide black/grey strip running through it. Two INKT Logos are stamped to the left of the circle, with stampers at the bottom, to the right and just below the top of the dam. In addition, a larger logo can be found on the outlets behind the ink pouring out. With the weak points being at the top, platforms attached to the dam are provided. The middle platform has hot plates, with the switch for it being on the left side of the lower platform. Furthermore, there are two Z - Jumps on this dam: One on the left to get to the hot plates, and another one the right side, getting past the stampers.
The top is flat with the exit pool being directly connected with the dam. The exit pool has pipes on three sides heading into the ground below. On the dam itself, some areas once again have mesh sections, where you can see the rotating gears. Flags adorn the extreme sides of the dam, as they hang over the edge. At each end is a pumping machine with more stampers. These stampers are connected with a pipe to a small silo with a switch on it. With each side, there is a tall silo that stands away from the rest of the dam. On the edges of the crest are anemometers.
In terms of colour scheme, the outlets are surrounded with a white concrete arch. The rest of the dam follows a grey, a wide black semicircle cladding on top of another white concrete layer.
Strategy
Scaling the dam is a bit of a challenge, but it's important to understand the timing. For example, the stampers come out approximately every 3 seconds and the hot plates last for a bit longer. From the bottom, jump up to the platform on the right. There, avoid the two stampers and hit the switch. This switch is for the hot plates up on the next platform, so quickly use the z-jump and roll past the plates. Here you need to use the z-jump again, but this time, you will need to time the transfers between points so you don't get hit by the stampers. Finally, jump another platform and avoid the last stamper before turning around and jumping over it again and you have reached the top. There's a 180 - second time pickup to the left if you need it.
As soon as you get to the top, 16 Inkies will ambush you where the green weak point is. The blue weak point is to the right side and the yellow is to the left. Slam the purple switches to start the pump, which will cause platforms to appear, allowing you cross to get to the silos. When you exit the silos, 2 Heavies and 6 Leechbots will spawn (This happens twice as there's two silos). Once the last 50 paint points are deposited, the landmark is complete.
