de Blob Online was a game being developed by Balanced Worlds. The only reason this game is known to exist is because of a tweet made by Richard Brown, who used to work at THQ. This game gives players the ability to play as a customisable character and explore a small city somewhere in Raydia. Given the lack of evidence, there isn't much known about what the game could have included - apart from a few features.
De Blob Online Trailer[]
Trailer Analysis[]
From the trailer, there are a few features that were seen:
- Character Customization
- Online Community
- Multiplayer Combat
- Skills/ Power-up
Character Customization[]
Judging by the customizing screen, you could choose your gender, colour, and apparel.
Online Community[]
Like multiplayers games, players could communicate with others by typing messages which would appear on the side of the screen.
Multiplayer Combat[]
A move is seen in the trailer - thought to be the precursor to the slam attack only seen in de blob 2 (DS).
Skills/ Power - Up[]
In some screenshots, there are shields presents - which would've been the earliest rendition before they officially debuted in de Blob 2. Another power - up present was a boost. It is unknown whether it was one that could be upgraded or one that can be picked up around the city. As with the de blob franchise, paintbots can be seen scattered around the city; one of the screenshots below shows a red paintbot on the rooftops. Another final power - up would've made players grow in size - with increased damage and speed. The final one could be the super - jump ability: allowing players to access tall buildings [Confirmation Needed]. The transformation engines makes a comeback, albeit in a different form and purpose. In this, it is a throwable item that causes players caught within its range to dance for a short time; similar to the Boogie Bomb seen in Epic Games' Fortnite. How to acquire said item is also unknown.
Location of the Game[]
The game is set on an island, surrounded by a lake; with more city renditions surrounding it. Looking from the south, there are a few recognisable buildings. First off, there is a tall tower on the left with a large platform near the top. This tower is surrounded by a road, with a roundabout north-east from it. East from the tower, there are some small buildings - many being cylindrical-shaped. These are close to the lake front as it bends close to the buildings. A large arch park sits on the lake front with 11 grass allotments spread over two levels. On the lake is a wooden platform, connected by three paths.
The city's port is to the right. A singular crane with a ship stands here; a fence starts from the eastern end of the park to the end of the island next to the bow of the ship. It should be noted that there is another ship that can be seen far from the explorable parts of the city if you look south east from the tower.
West from the port is a group of buildings. One in particular has a large glass cube supported by a metal pillar. This has a apple logo on one of its sides, which could be a nod to Apple. Anyway, next to this, there is a row of trees lining adjacent to the road which surrounds this group.
In the centre of the city is the plaza - which has a fountain in the middle. In front of that is a skyscraper with a large hollowed area near the top. West of that is some more buildings with varied sizes. Not much is known about the north end of the city [Information is Required]
