Electric Plates are a type of trap used by INKT to stop Blob from bringing colour back to Chroma City, and later Prisma City.

Purpose of Electric Plates:[]

The primary function, as with any trap, is to inflict damage onto Blob. Unlike the other traps found in de Blob and its sequel, the function of this trap has changed a bit. In de Blob, touching an Electric Plate will cause Blob to lose a life (represented by the life counter going down by 1 and Blob dropping a 1-Up which can be recollected). In de Blob 2, touching an Electric Plate simply causes Blob to lose a large amount of paint points (usually anywhere from 50 to 60). They can be placed either on the ground, walls or roofs.

History in de Blob series:[]

de Blob:[]

This trap was first introduced at the beginning of the sixth level The Docklands, when Blob is tasked with taking over a container ship. In the first game, they were accompanied by a switch that would deactivate them temporarily, allowing Blob to cross safely. Like most traps, they can be destroyed if near a Transformation Engine or part of an INKT Landmark. These plates have the appearance of a slightly thick, round - edged square, with four shock symbols all aimed at the centre. The top is illuminated in the typical light blue colour.

de Blob 2:[]

Electric Plates make a comeback in the sixth level "Blanc Cola Cannery (Soda Falls)" at the Orange Ale Tower. Their appearance has changed. While they are no longer round - edged, some still retain their overall square - shape. However, the majority of plates are now triangular with a singular electric bolt. Each large electric triangle is grouped with three more to form a plate. Like in de Blob, these can be placed on walls, on the ground, and on roofs. The main functional difference is that now a lot of these plates are time - based; meaning that Blob would have to wait until they are temporary off to cross safely. In addition, if any of these traps are placed on roofs, and the entire block is painted, then the traps are automatically destroyed.

Note that there is a square based variant seen inside buildings that are again square and still retaining the single electric bolt design. It also has a dark blue ring around the middle.
