Utrecht is the main and only location in de Blob: Utrecht. It is based off of the real life location Utrecht School of the Arts in the Netherlands (which is because the game was made there).
The city is split into two parts by the Utrecht Moat that separates the more traditional buildings on the right, with the more modern designs to the left. Utrecht's main railway line runs in the middle in a north-south direction with the NS Station placed in the middle of the map.
Traditional Utrecht
This district of Utrecht mainly consists of residential buildings and religious structures. Players start the game from this area near Sint Janskerk Church. The Oudegracht Canal runs through the center of the district with the waterway bordering both old and new districts being the West Utrecht Moat. There are five landmarks in central Utrecht - with three adjacent to the Utrecht Moat. Two roads connect the Traditional District with the Modern District - One is next to the Music Palace (Muziekpaleis), and the other just north of the Conservatory (Conservatorium). Most buildings here are grouped together, forming an enclosed block. Sometimes, these blocks are big enough to contain a small park inside.
Modern Utrecht
Crossing the Western Utrecht Moat leads to Modern Utrecht. Majority of the landmarks seen in the game are within this district. Most of the buildings here are further spaced out, with the roads being wider than its eastern counterpart. The I.N.K.T HQ is located on the moat front, and sits on a strip of land in between the moat and the railway. Behind the HQ is a large field with a wind cannon aimed at a nearby building. NS Station is the main station in the game; it has stands on both sides for buses and cars to pick up/drop passengers off. On the other side is a mixture of entertainment and economic landmarks. A large factory can be seen in the south western corner, allowing access to the cinema, hotel and casino. The north - western/northern side has a group of housing blocks with a hotel near the Merwede Canal.
